Narangala
Narangala is a picturesque and magnificent mountain situated
in the Badulla district(Uva Province – Sri Lanka). Rising up to approximately
1527 meters, the beautiful Narangala Mountain holds the distinction of being
the second highest mountain in the Uva province.
Route: Ella - Kumbalwela - Hali-ela - Kandegedara -
Keenakele - Thangamale watta - Narangala hike.
When traveling in your own vehicle, you have the option to
park near the old tea factory before beginning your Narangala hike. Along the
journey, there are footpaths and steps available that lead to the peak. This
mountain used to hiking and camping.
Hiking Trail:- Narangala hiking trail starts at Thangamalai
estate. In Tamil, "Thangamalai" translates to "golden
mountain." This region is abundant in grass, and when the grass becomes
slightly dry due to intense sunlight, it takes on a golden hue, giving the
mountain its name. Narangala's distinctive characteristic lies in its sharply
rectangular peak, rendering it a captivating spectacle even when viewed from a
considerable distance.
While traveling by train from Ella, you'll need to disembark
at Hali-ela railway station. From there, you have the option to either take a
bus to Keenakele village or opt for a tuk-tuk ride to Thangamalai estate.

arrange for one at the start of the trail.
